power from solar and hydro; they operate throughout the year as a
bed and breakfasts accommodation / lodging - you may also rent the
entire lodge for your group or family holiday.
Local tour operators, proud
to show off their eco tourism attractions, will pick you up from your
Cape Tribulation Retreat accommodation and return you home.
Crocodiles... Unless you
have Crocodile Dundee with you, avoid swimming in the crocs habitat,
the creeks and river mouths close to the sea especially - and if you
aren't sure about where to swim safely please ask someone who knows.
Cape Tribulation is a little
over 2 hours drive north of Cairns in Far North Queensland; a beautiful
example of Australia's natural heritage with long isolated stretches
of beach and lush rainforest covered mountains in the background.
The area has been protected by World Heritage listing since 1988.
It is aptly described as " where the rainforest meets the reef
" - only 2 small coastlines in the world can claim this distinction.
The Great Barrier Reef is probably the most well known among the 7
natural wonders of the world and is the largest living coral reef
on earth.
